Background
Perch is a new espresso bar in the busy business district of Tokyo, Japan. It is a simple, friendly coffee shop where locals can drop in every day for a quick chat and a take-away coffee. Perch is the third coffee shop to be opened by Woodberry Coffee Roasters.
The Woodberry Coffee team saw some of our previous work and were keen to work with us in creating a unique brand identity for Perch.
We worked on a number of logo concepts which answered the initial brief, but weren’t quite right. It wasn’t until we explored the idea of a unique hand-drawn wordmark that everything came together. The lettering style brings a touch of class to the brand, while the hand-drawn imperfections make it friendly and approachable.
